InternetBar is working to set up and Online Legal International Network of Empowerment (ONLINE). This network is comprised of legal professionals from all over the world who donate time to offer legal services online. They can answer e-mails, questions posted to discussion forums, and spend time being available on instant messaging services for real time consultations.
This network has been created to act as the driving engine behind InternetBar's pilot projects such as PeaceTones which engage users from conflict zones, remote areas, and developing economic regions in furthering the Rule of Law (by rule of law we are referring to getting people to participate in non-violent means of dispute resolution, and a movement away from bribery and corruption towards a faith in external governance systems and the benefits that they provide).
In order to move ONLINE forward we need to address the security concerns involved with the exchange of sensitive information online in e-mails, instant messages, and discussion forums.
Since those of us at InternetBar do not have excessively strong security backgrounds we have invited you all here to help us flesh out both the security questions we should be considering, and possible solutions. As such InternetBar has created this wiki to get your input on a variety of questions relating to these aims.
